The Baking Soda Edition

By popular request... the Sound&Fury/spherikus guide to 'Really Fantastic Things You Can Do With Baking Soda'.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy will tell you that a towel is the most useful object in existance, the savings-savvy blogging housewives out there will tell you that the Guide is wrong and in fact the most useful object in the universe is a box of baking soda. Short of actually being able to power a vehicle (although as I type this I am scheming about inventing the baking-soda-and-vinegar-science-fair-volcano car) baking soda does pretty much everything. Honestly, there's no point in listing off the thousands of things (some of them really quite bizarre) that people use it for because it just does everything. Clean X out of Y - done, remove bad smells - done, put out a fire - done, babysit the kids - done, disarm a nuclear weapon - done. Basically, armed with only a box of baking soda, you're pretty much prepared to take on the world. Although I'd still want to make sure I knew where my towel was... you know, just in case.

Turns out that pink flower hadn't quite finished getting pretty the other day when I took my photos...

I love the macro setting on my camera to the extent that I almost can't see the point of taking pictures of anything bigger than my hand. There is just something really awesome about making little things big. And it's probably around about this time that people start thinking 'God, she needs to get out more...'

lol - baking soda. I agree, it's so useful. I actually use it when I get cystitis (unfortunately fairly regularly). It works miracles!

And those are beautiful photos, I'm in a love affair with my macro setting too. ;)

Haha! Wow! I'll be buying myself a big box of that baking powder first thing in the morning. You're the greatest for posting that. Perfect timing. I so needed cheering up right now. Yours is the best blog to visit for a good chuckle. Thanks for that :)

Flowers are very pretty!

the plant is question is a bromilia, which I have no idea how to spell and know absolutely nothing about, however my father has a real thing for them, and not being the kind of man to do things by half measures we have HUNDREDS of them! I think they're mostly found in rainforest-y jungle type places. Each plant only puts out one flower about once a year and they really don't last long (that one's all brown already).

Enjoy your baking soda everyone!
