Warning! Contains Politics!

For anybody who failed to think that the Howard government was the greatest thing since sliced bread... Keating! Is the show for you. Following the rise and fall of former Australian Prime Minister, Paul Keating, Keating! Is a satirical political musical that will have you leaving thinking that Paul Keating was actually a competent politician. While Keating comes out seven feet tall and shooting lightening bolts out of his arse, the same cannot be said for... well any other politician that in any way stood against him. Alexander Downer ... well, let's just say that you'll really have to see this one for yourself to believe it... but lets just say that women's underwear is involved and members of the audience get molested at one point. Howard is portrayed as a bumbling out of touch power hungry old man (well more so than he is in reality, anyway). The saga ends quite historically incorrectly with the outcome of the 1996 election being portrayed slightly more in Keating's favour than most people would remember. See this and you'll drawing an extra little box on your next ballot paper for Paul Keating.

Keating runs at the QPAC Playhouse until the 10th of May. Dates for other cities can be found here

And for those of you who don't know (or that matter care) at all about Australian politics, fear not, I'm going to see Rossini's 'The Barber of Seville' next month, so don't worry, you'll all get your chance to act all theatrically, and that matter, operatically, knowledgeable at some point!

Glad you enjoyed it :) I really need to see this, I've heard such good things about it, & the portrayal of Howard sounds like it's worth the ticket price alone!
